John Moreland Announces New Album and Tour Dates

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter John Moreland will release LP5 on February 7, before taking to the road in March 2020.

John Moreland‘s fifth album will be produced by Matt Pence (Jason Isbell, The Breeders, Sarah Jaffe) at The Echo Lab, marking the first time Moreland has worked with an outside producer. As usual, Moreland’s masterful and poetic lyrics will be brought to life on what is being called his “most powerful work to date.”

There will be a greater level of production on this album compared to his previous releases, which were recorded in simple, stripped-down settings. Moreland wanted to step up the production, and that’s why he called on Pence. The album will also include Pence on drums as well as additional special guests Bonnie Whitmore (bass/vocals) and John Calvin Abney on a multitude of instruments.

LP5 will include some of Moreland’s most personal songs to date. “In Times Between” is a tribute to songwriter Chris Porter, a friend of Moreland’s who was tragically killed in 2016 in a van accident. “When My Fever Breaks” is the story of his relationship with his wife. This unique song is unique in that it was written over three years, with the first verse being written when they first started to date.

Today, Moreland announced tour dates for his North American tour which will begin in Bentonville, AR on March 14. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, October 25 at 10 am local time.
