The nominations are out Blues Music Awards which will take place at the Memphis Cook Convention Center on May 9, 2019.
2019 marks the 40th Blues Music Awards. The Blues Foundation members will shortly be receiving a ballot to vote for this year’s winners. The voting will close at 11.59pm CT on February 28.
Anthony Geraci has been nominated in an impressive six categories including Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Tradition Blues Males Artist. On top of this, Geraci is also part of the band The Proven Ones, who have been nominated for Contemporary Blues Album.
Special mention must also go to Shemekia Copeland and Nick Moss who have each been nominated in four categories. Along with Geraci, they have both been nominated for Album of the Year.
This year’s nominations include two pairs of sisters. Samantha Fish is nominated for Contemporary Blues Album and Contemporary Blues Female Artist, while her sister Amanda Fish has been nominated for Best Emerging Artist Album. Sisters Rebecca Lovell and Megan Lovell of the band Larkin Poe, have been nominated for Band of the Year.
We will need to wait until May 9 to hear who the lucky winners are, but in the meanwhile, congratulations to all of those nominated. The nominees are:
