Interview with Kathy Blackman, Owner of Grog Shop

In the first of our interviews with independent venue owners, we sat down with Kathy Blackman to talk about her venue, Grog Shop, in Cleveland.

Grog Shop opened its doors in the Coventry Road area of Cleveland Heights back in 1992, subsequently moving to a larger space in the same area in 2003. During that time, it has become a key part of the Cleveland Heights community and Kathy Blackman has been there right from the start. We spoke with Kathy about the history of the venue, what drove her to open a venue in the first place, and how she coped during the Covid pandemic.
