The To Plant A Seed 10 year Anniversary Tour came to Nashville and there were a lot of mixed emotions in the crowd.
Hollow Front was first out on stage. Not even five minutes in, someone from the crowd exclaimed, ”You rock!” which set the precedent for the night. The mosh pits started early on, just showing how eager the audience was to get the show going. Backup vocalist and guitarist Dakota Alvarez hit all the notes, and his voice was as smooth as butter. Unfortunately, it seemed like the tour had taken its toll on both singer Tyler Tate and bassist Brandon Rummler as their energy wasn’t quite there but they still gave the show their all. The highlight of Hollow Front’s set was drummer Devin Attard. He had such immaculate energy and stole the show. His skillset seemed to be almost sophisticated. The fans were transfixed, and even after their set ended the crowd still talked about Devin.
Dayseeker was next up. Their set slowed down the concert, and the crowd didn’t seem entirely into it. Singer Rory Spencer had an emotional conversation with the audience about his father who passed away this July from cancer. He said it has inspired him to be a better father to his daughter that was born in January. It was overall a good set, ending with the song ”Sleeptalk.”
The Devil Wears Prada was second to last. Vocalist Mike Hranica had intense energy and a fantastic stage presence. Brooklyn Bowl’s stage was almost too small for all the energy that the band had. The crowd seemed beautifully content, and it was the perfect hype before the headliner. Fans went nuts for them, especially for some of the older songs on the setlist. Crowd-surfing began during their set. They ended their set with ”Danger: Wildman” and the audience bounced off of their feet.
Before We Came As Romans started their set, they presented QR codes on their LED screens giving fans 10% off merchandise. A rather original idea. Their set started off with a pre-recorded video of the band talking about the record To Plant A Seed and how far they have come in the past 10 years.
The energy in the venue was thick with nostalgia and emotion, everyone singing along to every track including the bonus tracks. During their set, the mosh pit went from crazy to downright insane, shoes were flying and drinks were spilled. In the middle of the song ”To Move On Is To Grow” vocalist Dave Stephens brought up a young (5 years?) fan named Nick on stage. It was a wonderfully sweet moment and you could hear the audience collectively go “Aww!”
Late Kyle Pavone’s presence was not missing. We Came As Romans dedicated the song “Lost In The Moment” to him, mentioning that Kyle always was present in life, truly living in the moment. At the beginning of the encore, they paid a great tribute to Kyle and encouraged everyone to take control of their mental health and reach out to someone.
This tour was not an end of an era. We Came As Romans wanted to give To Plant A Seed the love and attention it deserved after all these years. To fully focus an entire tour on the album that got their careers flying high.
