Two Friends at KEMBA Live! in Columbus, OH

Two Friends put on an energetic hour-and-a-half show for a sold-out crowd at KEMBA Live! in Columbus, Ohio.

Starting the night was artist Justus Bennetts who bridges the gap between pop-punk and hip-hop. Bennetts’ sound is reminiscent of Machine Gun Kelly with a mixture of pop and hip-hop. Although fans were eager for a night of EDM music, they were very receptive to Bennetts’ dynamic performance. Bennetts performed their songs, “Real Life Sucks,” “Insomniac,” and “Don’t Trip.”

Up next was DJ and EDM artist, Wuki. Wuki has been in the EDM world since 2007 and his experience is apparent from his confident performance. His set was full of original mixes with popular hit songs that all the concert-goers were familiar with. One unique characteristic of Wuki’s show was how he was able to connect with his audience despite being behind his DJ equipment. Arguably, the best moment in Wuki’s performance was his rendition of “My Girl” by The Temptations. During the lyrics, “I’ve got sunshine/ on a cloudy day” (which was mixed perfectly), Wuki had fans starting from the left of the stage and stretching across to the right of the stage moving their arms from right to left slowly to make a wave of arms that imitated a sun rising. Needless to say, fans were well warmed up for the headliner to take to the stage next.

Two Friends hit the stage next and were welcomed by a sold-out audience who were ready to match their energy. As their name suggests, Two Friends is a DJ/Producer duo made up of the two friends Eli Stones and Matthew Halper. Halper and Stones met in middle school and later formed Two Friends by the end of their senior year of high school. They are known for their ability to make mixes of popular songs in a way that fans can get up and dance to, as well as resonate with. Some of their popular work includes “Life’s Too Short,” “… Last Day – Dualities Remix,” and “Looking At You (feat. Sam Vesso).”

In addition to these hits, Two Friends also has a large volume of remixes that they title Big Bootie Mix. Currently, Two Friends has 23 volumes of the Big Bootie Mixes with the latest one just being released. These mixes typically cover the recent hits from the year but with throwbacks also sprinkled in.

Two Friends’ stage presence is unmatched, and it is truly a spectacle to watch. The duo’s DJ equipment is situated in a UFO that sits on hydraulics that lifts up at various points of the show. In addition, their UFO also doubles as a light show that corresponds to the music. Despite their UFO being situated towards the back of the stage, Stones and Halper were not shy about climbing on top of it and running around the stage with their Two Friends flags. Their set was also accompanied by pyrotechnics, fog, and lasers that all followed the beat of the music. Visually speaking, you couldn’t ask for more of a show.

Two Friends’ set was very bass heavy and this had people jumping up and down as they felt the music. Their mash-up of popular hits included everything from throwbacks like “Mr. Brightside” and “Stacy’s Mom” to the latest hits of Lizzo and Miley Cyrus. Fans were engaged as they sang the lyrics back to them. During their mix of Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl,” Two Friends cut the lyrics part of the song right at “B-A-N-A-N-A-S,” leaving only the heavy beat and you could hear just how loud fans were singing. Two Friends’ saxophonist also put on an iconic performance, making Two Friends three friends by the end of the night.
