Two Door Cinema Club returned to Austin, TX, to perform their amazing indie-rock sound for eager fans at the Moody Amphitheater.
Two Door Cinema Club is an indie-rock band from Northern Ireland. The band is made up of Alex Trimble (vocals), Sam Halliday (guitar), and Kevin Baird (bass). They received mainstream success after a few of their songs were featured in popular television shows. The group was previously in Austin earlier this year and performed at the iconic Stubb’s Amphitheater, clearly amphitheater enthusiasts. Their latest single released was earlier this year, “Happy Customers.”
Opening for Two Door Cinema Club is Peter Martin, more famously known as Petey. After going viral on TikTok, the singer has grown a platform of about 1.5 million followers. Petey has been making music since he was a teenager and has released music under his previous stage name. Under his current stage name, he has released three studio albums. The latest was USA, released in September of 2023, but in June 2024, Petey dropped a five-track EP titled The Closest Thing To Being Over Is Going On. Touring with Petey are musicians Drew Bruchs (bass), Ukiah (drums), and Garrison Benson (guitar). During his set, he played songs such as “We Go On Walks” from his album Lean Into Life and “Did I Mention I’m Sorry” from his most recent album, USA. Petey kept the crowd moving with his upbeat songs and did a great job of exciting the audience for the show to come.
Well after sunset, Two Door Cinema Club took to the stage. They opened with “This Is The Life” from their 2010 debut album Tourist History. They also played songs from their album Beacon such as “Sleep Alone” and “Next Year.” In between songs, Baird wished a fan Happy 30th Birthday after reading a sign they had made. He also informed the crowd that Austin is always one of their favorite stops on tour.As they started to play “Wonderful Life” from their latest album, Keep on Smiling, fans went crazy. This also happened after the first two beats of “Undercover Martyn” began to play. They performed a few more songs such as “Cigarettes in the Theatre” and the intro of their song “Messenger AD.” They rounded out their set with “What You Know.”
They will continue their North American tour through the rest of September and a few days in October before making their way to Australia. Two Door Cinema Club is an amazing band that has created a soundtrack to so many people’s lives. It was inspiring to see all the happy faces seeing their favorite band.
