Tove Lo brought her sold-out Dirt Femme Tour to the Bay Area at the historic and beautiful Fox Theater in Oakland.
The show was exactly three years to the date since the last time Tove Lo was in the Bay Area. She had been in a boot because she had a broken leg and it was one of her last shows before the world shut down. She was so happy to finally be back and performed one heck of a show in front of thousands of adoring fans.
To start the show, she performed “Pineapple Slice,” one of two collaborations she did with SG Lewis on her fifth studio album, Dirt Femme. After that was “Attention Whore” and a hit classic of hers, “Cool Girl.” Even though it was a Monday night, that didn’t stop Tove Lo from bringing the energy and asking the crowd to do the same. She had three rules for the night – to cry with her, turn up with her, and feel sexy with her.
The stage design was very elegant and dream-like with clouds set up everywhere and nice lights that showed off Tove Lo’s metallic outfit and dance moves. There was even a fan set up in one of the clouds so that when she stood on it, her hair would blow everywhere she looked like a Greek God.
Her setlist was also carefully planned out with nice transitions/interludes between songs. For example, she performed “2 Die 4,” another song from her new album, and as the song came to an end, the music perfectly transitions into the beat from “Talking Body” and gave Tove Lo the time for an outfit change as well. “Talking Body” was definitely the fan-favorite song of the night with it being the classic hit that it is, the open space in the song for the crowd to sing along, and Tove Lo flashing the crowd which she does every show.
Another fun song on her set was “Disco Tits,” the lead single from her third album Blue Lips. During the song, there were rainbow disco lights appropriately shining. Tove Lo also took the time to thank the crowd for giving her so much energy throughout the night and being such a beautiful crowd. She couldn’t stop thanking them.
After that, she slowed things down for the next couple of songs. She performed “Moments,” a song from her debut album Queen of The Clouds. Even though it’s a song she wrote early on in her career, it will always be a staple because it is about not being perfect and flaws being good. She also managed to sneak in her new song “Borderline” which was just released early last month into her set. Of course, the fans already knew all the lyrics to it as well. The last song of her set was “True Disaster” from her sophomore album Lady Wood.
But the night wasn’t quite over yet as Tove Lo came back out for an encore where she performed three more songs. “Passion and Pain Tase the Same When I’m Weak,” her worldwide smash hit “Habits (Stay High),” and “No One Dies From Love” the second single from her new album.
