Tinashe at Stubb’s Amphitheater in Austin, TX

At Stubb’s Amphitheater, Tinashe wowed Austin with her smooth R&B vocals and dynamic choreography, delivering a high-energy, unforgettable performance.

Tinashe is an American R&B singer-songwriter and dancer. She has been making pop R&B for the past decade and has infiltrated the acting industry, too. Having roles in many TV shows and movies. She has seven studio albums out, the most recent being Quantum Baby (2024), which features her hit song “Nasty.” Over the summer the song charted #61 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and #1 on TikTok’s Songs of the Summer. Right now, she is on her Match My Freak: World Tour. While on tour, she will hit North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. The tour will continue into next year.

Starting the night was Austin-based DJ BabiBoi. BabiBoi played a quick 30-minute set but made sure to include enough top hits to get the crowd hype. Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli xcx, and SexxyRed were all included in her set.

Opening for Tinashe was artist Raveena. Raveena is a R&B experimental singer-songwriter. The New York-based artist released her latest album, Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain, in June. The album has R&B influences as well as jazz elements. Thankfully, she performed a few songs from the album including “Lose My Focus.” She also played a few songs from her debut album Lucid, like “Still Dreaming” and “Honey.” Closer to the end of the set, Raveena paid homage to 90s R&B artist Aaliyah by performing a beautiful cover of  “At Your Best (You Are Loved).” She closed with “Baby Mama” and “Rise,” both from her new album.

The anticipation for Tinashe grew as the clock ticked later into the night. A little after 9 PM, the lights went dark and the back screen that filled the stage lit up with Tinashe’s intro video. After the short video that teased “Nasty,” she confidently stepped out onto stage. She opened with “Getting No Sleep” from her new album, Quantum Baby. Four backup dancers accompanied Tinashe on stage. The choreographed group hypnotized the crowd. Tinashe joined them throughout the night. As she is a dancer, no one was surprised by the multi-talented energy she brought.

Tinashe sang as the boys danced. She performed other songs like “Bouncing” and “Thirsty.” The stage was very simple but notedly there were poles with security cameras lining them to the top. During one of the songs, the back screen lit up with security footage of about 30 different rooms. When the intro to “Save Room for Us” started, the audience went wild. She also made sure to play snippets of a few songs she was featured on. The songs were “Gold Teeth” by Blood Orange and “All My Friends” by Snakehips. She also performed a cover of KAYTRANADA’s “The Worst In Me.” As the set came to an end, she performed “No Broke Boys” and closed with, of course, “Nasty.”
