Lil Tecca at Emo’s in Austin, TX

American rapper and songwriter Lil Tecca takes on Austin’s prominent Emo’s while on his North American Hvn on Earth Tour.

Twenty-one-year-old artist, Lil Tecca made his start as a teen making music with his friends. In 2018, he blew up thanks to his hit single “Ransom.” The song peaked at number four on the Billboard charts. A year after the release of “Ransom,” Tecca released his debut mixtape which also peaked at number four on the Billboard charts. He has worked with some pretty accomplished artists like Mabel, Juice Wrld, and Gunna. Impressively, Lil Tecca is a co-owner of his own record company, Galactic Records. In 2023, Tecca released his latest and third album, TEC

Lil Tecca had quite a few openers and one of the first was rapper Chow Lee. Chow Lee performed an amazing set all while exuding so much charisma. He has been making music since 2017 so choosing the few songs he did play couldn’t have been easy. He played a few of his hit singles including “swag it!,” a newer single that was released in December of 2023. He has released a few more songs since then including two singles “ms.beautiful V” and “porno story!” He truly did set the energy for the rest of the night.

The next opener of the night was rapper tana. tana has toured with Lil Tecca previously in 2021, on the Tecca Loves You Tour. He is also a co-owner of their record label, Galactic Records. Similar to the previous artist, tana also has some freshly released tracks. His latest is the single “Decatur.” Multiple times tana tried getting the audience to open up a mosh pit, but venue security discouraged the behavior. The audience still seemed to have a great time without the chance of injury.

The final opener before Lil Tecca was SoFaygo. He has been making music since 2018 and is signed to Travis Scott’s record label Cactus Jack. The chatter of excitement came from the crowd as we waited for SoFaygo. Seemingly, he had many fans there to see him. He performed songs like “Knock, Knock” and “Off the Map.” Towards the end of his set, he announced he would be playing a new unreleased song and the crowd went crazy.

Last but not least, Lil Tecca finally went onto the stage. Over the last three openers, the suspense had been building and when fans got their first look of the night, they went insane. Reflecting the crowd’s liveliness, Lil Tecca started strong with his first song of the night “Yves,” the opening track from his 2023 album release TEC. The next few tracks were also from TEC and were played in chronological order. He also performed The Kid LAROI’s “Diva” and “Somebody” by Internet Money and A Boogie wit da Hoodie, both of which he is featured on. He really knew how to control the crowd and fed off his fans’ energy. As his set neared an end, of course, he had to play his most streamed song “Ransom,” the song most people would argue put him on the map. He closed the night by playing a song he performed earlier in the set, “500lbs.” He has only just started his Hvn on Earth Tour; meaning there is still plenty of time to pick up a ticket to check him out.
