Goth Babe at Moody Amphitheater in Austin, TX

The Goth Babe concert at Moody Amphitheater in Austin, TX, delivered an electrifying blend of atmospheric soundscapes and enchanted fans under the night sky.

Indie artist Goth Babe, formerly known as Griff Washburn, is a solo rock project. Originally from Tennessee, Goth Babe has made his way around the States having lived in New York City, then LA, before settling down in the Northwest Pacific with his pup, Sadie. This past month, Goth Babe released a short three-track EP called Oregon Coast. In January of this year, he released his debut album, Lola

Opening the show was the alt-pop band The Aces. The Aces is a four-member band made up of Cristal Ramirez (vocals/guitar), Katie Henderson (guitar), McKenna Petty (bass), and Alisa Ramirez (drums). The group has been releasing music together since 2017, but their history as friends and musicians goes back to when they were children. On the day of this show, they released a single called “The Magic” which they performed and taught to the crowd. Their latest album, I’ve Loved You For So Long, was released during the summer of 2023.

After a bit of delay due to the weather, Goth Babe finally made it to the stage at about 8:30 PM. From the second the show started, Goth Babe made his appreciation towards his fans very clear. The show was extremely interactive and multiple times throughout the night he had the audience participate in activities. He opened his set with “Spinnaker Days” from his debut album Lola. During the third song, the set crew threw inflatable beach balls into the crowd and they shockingly stayed in the air all night. Goth Babe soon informed the crowd that he would be having a friend, a musician from Gregory Alan Isakov’s band, crowd surf in an inflatable life raft. During “Casita,” the crowd kept the guy afloat above their heads.

After that bit of fun, Goth Babe brought out another guest, a cardboard cutout of a bear. He then held a cheering competition between the left and the right side of the audience and the winner received the bear. The left side narrowly won. He then had a crew member find two random fans in the crowd to represent each side. As it turned out, the two audience members were to race each other on Mario Kart, while Goth Babe performed “Sadie.” The race was shown on the big screen on stage for everyone to watch. The right-side racer won this round. For their prize, Goth Babe threw cupcakes into the right side of the crowd. Then naturally, he held a medal ceremony for the two players and had them come to the edge of the stage to receive their medals.

Goth Babe consistently made an effort to connect with his fans and even promised two fans that he would officiate their 2026 wedding in Oregon. He came across as a genuinely caring guy and proved it by partnering with PLUS1. By partnering with PLUS1, $1 per ticket goes to support Protect Our Winters and their work helping outdoor people protect places from climate change.
