Faye Webster at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, TN

Folk and country artist Faye Webster ends her fall tour in Music City with songs from her latest album I Know I’m Funny Haha.

After being on the road for almost a whole month performing in different cities, singer-songwriter Faye Webster made her final tour appearance in Nashville, TN. Most of her setlist was from her latest album I Know I’m Funny Haha which was released back in June 2021. The album continued in the light of her previous project, bringing out a more R&B sound with influences from country and 1970s pop.

The room was full from front to back, and even the upstairs area, too. If not for Webster, it may have been due to Stranger Things star Maya Hawke being the opener. The audience screamed with anticipation as the lights dimmed. Hawke brought out two guitarists who also sang the background vocals.

Most of the songs Hawke performed have yet to be released, which she apologized for halfway through the set. The audience enjoyed her poppy-folk sound with head nods and tapping feet. Fans sang along to recent releases “Thérèse” and “Sweet Tooth,” as well as an earlier track “To Love A Boy.” The three-person band ended their set with their own rendition of Florida Georgia Line’s song “Dirt.”

Before Webster walked on stage, there was a blow-up figure that resembled her own bust. Then, as screams filled the venue, the band entered the stage, followed by Faye Webster herself. They began their set with “Better Distractions” and “Kind Of” to which the crowd screamed and shouted with joy.

She followed with “Right Side of My Neck,” giving a more upbeat performance. “A Dream With a Baseball Player” was a little more laid back, giving the audience the opportunity to relax and enjoy the slow jam. Webster followed with the album’s title track “I Know I’m Funny Haha” and the crowd shouted with excitement.

At the midpoint of the set, Webster performed “Jonny,” which included the track and its reprise where she delivered a moving monologue. Afterward, she read a sign she saw that said “My name is Jonny,” to which she jokingly vocalized her disapproval. She continued the set with her favorite Pokémon song, “Lake Verity.” Those who played the Diamond and Pearl video games would have recognized the tune. Afterward, Webster played “In A Good Way,” one of her more catchy songs from the album.

After performing “Cheers,” another fan favorite from the album, the band left the stage, leaving Webster. She continued with “Half of Me,” the last song on the project. The crowd was mostly silent during the performance, taking in her emotional lyrics.

The room was filled with mixed screams of people yelling “encore,” some people screaming her name, and a few people screaming “Kingston.” Then not too long afterward, Webster and her band returned to the stage, announcing that they would be playing “Kingston,” her most streamed song at almost 60 million plays.

Although the tour is over, you can still listen to Faye Webster’s latest album, “I Know I’m Funny Haha,” on all streaming platforms.
