Falling In Reverse hit the road with Escape the Fate for a short four-date sold-out tour that included a stop in Detroit, Michigan.
It was a cold evening when Fame On Fire, Escape the Fate, and Falling In Reverse made a stop in Detroit for a short tour through the Midwest. Escape The Fate played two extra shows for the Midwest mini tour with stops in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Missouri. The night in Detroit was the first of four dates that included Falling In Reverse and Fame on Fire; all four shows were sold-out well in advance.
Saint Andrew’s Hall in downtown Detroit was bursting at the seams with fans. Fame On Fire started the night early and got the packed venue primed and ready for an evening of loud, heavy, and fun music.
Up next was Escape the Fate. They are a rock and post-hardcore band from Las Vegas, Nevada. They are led by singer Craig Mabbitt. Other members on stage included Matti Hoffman on lead guitar, Erik Jensen on bass, Thomas “TJ” Bell on rhythm guitar, and Robert Ortiz on drums.
They started the evening with “Gorgeous Nightmare” from their 2010 self-titled album. The fans were crowd surfing by the second song, “Issues,” also from the self-titled album. By the time the third song “Flood” was underway, the packed room was going wild. As the set continued, they played a song from their last album, Chemical Warfare. The remainder of the set was from the 2008 album, This Is Our War, and the fans were very excited to sing and mosh along.
When the lights dimmed, the crowd cheered loudly as Falling In Reverse was about to come out. One at a time, Tyler Burgess, Luke Holland, Christian Thompson, Max Georgiev, and Ronnie Radke took the stage. They started very strong with the very popular song, “Zombified” from the forthcoming album Neon Zombie. Up next, they continued with a mix of songs from all four of their studio albums and the more recent songs that were released as singles.
As the night was nearing the end, Ronnie took a moment to chat with the crowd. He expressed that he was “very grateful for you guys.” As he continued, he asked the audience to “Raise your hand if you or someone you know is a f**king a**hole.” With that, nearly every hand went up to the sky. Next, Ronnie continued with “oh yeah, keep your hand in the sky if you call me an a**hole on Twitter.” Several hands stayed up as he laughed and he continued with, “So I’m just like you, right? I’m very aware that I’m an a**hole too motherf**ker; just like you,” before starting the fun and upbeat track “Just Like You.” They wrapped up the evening with the 2020 single “Popular Monster” which the crowd was more than happy to sing along with.
Detroit was lucky to be one of the four cities played for the early December mini-tour through the Midwest that was completely sold out. The crowd’s energy and enthusiasm proved that they deserved to be one of the stops and continue to support Falling In Reverse in all that they do. In 2017, they won the Alternative Press award for Best Live Band, and they proved that the title still holds true.
