City and Colour at The Admiral in Omaha, NE

City and Colour, joined by Pedro The Lion, delivered a passionate and emotional performance at The Admiral in Omaha, Nebraska.

The night started at 8:00 PM with Pedro The Lion’s moving performance. The singer had mentioned that the guitar being played was purchased earlier that day. With just that guitar and live vocals, the music echoed throughout the venue and left an impression on the crowd. The atmospheric vocals were incredible, sounding exactly like the singer/songwriter’s recorded music. Songs such as “Slow And Steady Wins The Race” and “Strange Negotiations” hushed and grabbed the attention of the audience. The powerful energy combined with the storytelling lyrics resulted in the crowd being still and attentive the entire time. The ambiance of Pedro The Lion’s music made for the perfect opener to transition to the headliner’s music.

Excited fans cheered as City and Colour walked onto the stage at 9:00 PM. The set began with the song “After Disaster,” followed up with the song “Strangers.” The group’s energy along with Dallas’ voice was nothing short of captivating. Fans sang along to each of the songs very passionately and intently. Although City and Colour’s music sounds soft and unhurried, the singer mentioned that the songs are not always intended to be viewed as sad songs, but hopeful songs. This was mentioned before the performance of “Waiting…” The two-hour setlist was sure to include something from every album release. Songs ranging from the 2005 album Sometimes to the 2023 album The Love Still Held Me Near delivered a mixture of old and new sounds to the audience.

The group walked offstage after playing “Bow Down to Love,” resulting in cheering and applause. A few minutes later, they returned to give the eager crowd more. Beginning their five-song encore was the ethereal “Northern Wind” followed by “Comin’ Home.” “Lover Come Back” was well-received by the audience and had the crowd singing and swaying throughout the entire song. Finally, the songs “Sleeping Sickness” and “Sometimes (I Wish)” were performed around 11:00 PM to strongly close out the night. Overall, the concert was quite the experience because of the variety of songs in the set. The different sounds offered something to please newer and older fans. Even the people in the audience who had not heard any of their music before the concert could not help but feel moved in some way afterward.

City and Colour have been touring around the world this year and there are still a few tour dates left to see them in the United States before the year comes to a close. They will then be touring in Australia in January 2025.
