Cage The Elephant at CHI Health Center in Omaha, NE

Nearing the end of their 45-date North American Neon Pill Tour, Cage The Elephant delivered a fiery performance in Omaha, Nebraska.

With Young the Giant, Bakar, and Willow Avalon’s support, the nonstop fun continued for nearly four and a half hours. The show started at 6:30 PM, and country singer-songwriter Willow Avalon started the night off strong. The liveliness of the group was sure to put the audience in a good mood. Everyone on stage was dancing together and were having a good time. The audience seemed to especially enjoy the performance of the song “Yodelayheewho.” The energy of the performance was a great introduction to what was yet to come. The crowd was warmed up and ready to take on the rest of the night.

After Willow Avalon’s set, Bakar took to the stage. With a passion that jolted the crowd awake, no one else was needed on the stage other than Bakar. Everyone started to dance and sing along, especially during the popular song “Hell N Back.” Not only did the set sound incredible, but Bakar did an excellent job of keeping the crowd alive.

Young the Giant was up next. As Omaha was their last day on the Neon Pill Tour, they made sure to conclude this tour with a bang. All of the band members had so much focus, passion, and emotion while performing, making them enjoyable to watch as well as listen to. The set consisted of a mix of older and more recent songs. Their song “My Body” had the crowd shouting the lyrics back at them. Other well-known songs such as “Superposition,” “Mind over Matter,” and “Cough Syrup” were performed. Young the Giant’s stage presence was so powerful it could not be ignored by anyone.

The crowd went wild when Cage The Elephant hit the stage. The band revved up the crowd by opening with “Broken Boy,” a song off their 2019 album Social Cues, along with adding pyrotechnics. Flames burst into the air during parts of this song as well as multiple others throughout the set. The crowd cheered with every burst of flames.

After a few songs, singer Matt Shultz mentioned that he had broken his foot, explaining why he had a knee walker with him. You might think that this would inhibit the singer’s performance. However, he did not let this impact anything at all. He was seen dancing and headbanging nearly the entire time; the band’s energy could not be stopped. To explain another reason why Cage The Elephant are a must-see live band, would be their performance of “Rainbow,” a song from Neon Pill. This eye-catching set-up featured lasers that also looked like moving clouds and rainbows throughout the entire song.

After hours of performances, the night was coming to a close, but it was not over yet. At around 10:45 PM, Cage The Elephant began their encore with “Shake Me Down” and “Cigarette Daydreams,” before ending the show with “Come A Little Closer.” With every song, the crowd was sure to sing the lyrics back at them.

The performance, effects, and lineup are what make this night truly unforgettable. After seeing Cage The Elephant live, it would be difficult for another artist to match the feeling of astonishment and excitement that they brought.
