Bush at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI

Bush brings an energized concert experience to thousands of Michiganders at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan.

May I have your attention!!! UK alternative rockers Bush and the almighty Gav-Train have just made a long-awaited stop to the historic Michigan outdoor venue… the one and only Pine Knob. Bush takes the enormous stage at 6:25 pm, as direct support for Alice In Chains and Breaking Benjamin on the 2022 American tour. Singer Gavin Rossdale emerges from stage right, wearing that typical boyish smile and a smoking hot pair of neon Nikes.

The band starts the set with “The Kingdom.” Rossdale wastes no time and goes to work prowling the stage with the tiger-like finesse of a true rock star. This band sounds amazing, dialed-in, and tight right from the get-go, and despite Gavin being the only current original member… incredibly tight! “Kingdom” comes to a close, and a nearby guitar tech brings Gavin his beloved 67 Fender Jazzmaster as he steps to the mic and addresses the audience. “How are you doing? Thanks for checking us out and thanks for coming out! We love you and we love Detroit!”

The band fires right into the British banger “Machine Head” and the crowd’s energies explode. GR hops about, grinning ear to ear like a rock and roll fitness trainer as his band mates, guitarist Chris Traynor and bassist Corey Britz, swap stage sides, and step onto the risers to engage their crowd. Bush continues with “Quicksand,” “Bullet Holes,” and the mystical track “Everything Zen.” “Blood River” comes next followed by “Flowers on a Grave,” (and a special surprise from Rossdale himself).

GR hands off his Jazzmaster and with the vim and vigor of a teenage track star jumps from the stage and continues belting out the lyrics while running up the hundreds of steps from the amphitheater leading to the huge hilled/lawn section. Along the way, he gives out high-fives, smiles, and occasional quick handshakes as he treks across the hill, and through the crowd, complete with his security team in tow. With rounds now complete, he returns to the stage and they fire out the new track “More Than Machines” from their upcoming album The Art of Survival. A definite crowd-pleaser that keeps the energy high with its edgy beat and deep lyrical content. The tune comes to a close and we now see GR, centerstage… alone with his Jazzmaster. Young ladies near the front of the stage could be heard over the microphone screaming “We love you, Gavin!” just as he starts into one of their all-time greats, “Glycerine.” Rossdale gets to the second verse, releases his guitar, and delivers an impressive a cappella version complete with the crowd singing backups. Bush brings this incredible night to a close with an extended play version of the tune “Come Down.”  Rossdale, Traynor, and Britz raise their hands to a screaming crowd and take a short bow as drummer Nik Hughes descends his throne and delights fans by flicking drumsticks into the audience.

Bush is an energetic, highly engaging, and recommended concert experience that should be added to your must-see concert list. Check the band’s official website for upcoming dates, details, and current news. While you are there, be sure to pre-order the band’s upcoming album The Art of Survival, due to be released… soon!
