Breaking Benjamin and Staind at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI

Staind and Breaking Benjamin have joined forces to bring a double dose of pulse-pounding metal to the mighty Pine Knob of Clarkston, MI.

Now how exciting is this? Pennsylvania rockers Breaking Benjamin and the original post-grunge gangsters Staind have teamed up for an epic 2024 Fall tour that will make 28 stops across North America. Appropriately titled the 2024 Tour, it will end in late October and will feature direct support from billboard-topping legend Daughtry, and alternative country (legends in the making), Lakeview. This particular 9-11 is off on the right foot… thousands of right feet… as hordes of happy concert-goers pile into the historic outdoor amphitheater known as Pine Knob.

Fast forward to game time, and first to the stage this evening will be Lakeview, the head-banging country boys from Nashville. The boys proceed to drop some D-troit jaws when their aggressive country metal makes its first debut to the Motor City metalheads. LV dishes out a tight and beefy 12-song set, including their radio play hit “Money Where Your Mouth Is,” fan favorite “Rock Bottom,” and a killer rendition of the Hinder cover “Lips Of An Angel.”

Next to our iconic stage is the 2006 number 1 chart-topping band, Daughtry. The fans come to life as the band takes their positions for the night’s event, and comes to a standing roar-o-vation as frontman, Chris Daughtry emerges from backstage. The band fires out “The Reckoning” and “Changes Are Coming” before CD takes to the microphone and says, “We’re gonna take ya waaaaaay back to 2006.” They proceed to roll into the chart-topping classic “It’s Not Over” and our crowd sings along in unison… word for word. A classy Journey cover, “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart),” is spot on and a crowd-pleaser. Daughtry grinds out five more bangers, ending their night on “Artificial.”

The time is now 7:45 PM and a huge white curtain now obstructs our view of the stage. Not a second late… 7:55 PM and the veil drops, revealing the power quintet from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania… Breaking Benjamin. This horde of feisty fans is understandingly excitable as frontman Benjamin Burnley appears on stage as the band rolls into “Failure.” The crowd bangs along, belting out the track’s chorus line back to Burnley. BB smacks the Pine Knobbers with over 75 minutes of in-your-face, ass-smacking favorites including “Red Cold River,” “Blow Me Away,” “So Cold,” and the mysteriously awesome…”Crawl.” Benjamin brings their epic slot to a close with the one-two combo of the classic “Had Enough” and an extended play version of “The Diary of Jane.”

Next and last to the stage this most memorable night of music mayhem… Staind! Time Check… 9:35 PM and a similar curtain drop now reveals a mighty crime scene, complete with a towering drum throne standing nearly 15′ high. Atop, we see a smiling Sal Giancarelli, waiting as OG Guitarist Mike Mushok, bass player Johnny April, and Mac Daddy… Aaron Lewis come together center stage. Lewis briefly faces the drum riser before turning to the crowd, signature ballcap and cigarette in hand. Wasting no time, they start the night out with their newest single “Lowest in Me,” and it is very well received by our Michigan metalheads. The face-smasher “Eyes Wide Open” is up next, followed by the iconic classic “Fade” (and insert group singalong #1). The band presses on with “Right Here,” “Not Again,” and the deeply moving and thoughtful “Here and Now.” Group singalong #2 ensues as the dark and steamy lyrics of “Something to Remind You” spill across the thousands in attendance. Follow this with “Raw” and another audience favorite, “Outside.” Staind blasts us through a setlist of 15 killer cuts, ending the night 90 minutes later with the campfire singalong classic “Mudshovel.”

This power combination of Staind and Breaking Benjamin comes as a Loud Hailer- recommended concert experience that is sure to get your pulse pounding, and your heads banging. Be sure to catch them on the 2024 Tour now… check the band’s official websites for concert dates, details, and current news.
