Betty Who at Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH

Newport Music Hall welcomed Betty Who with a full house of fans that were ready to celebrate her BIG! Tour.

To kick the night off strong, international drag superstar Shea Couleé took the stage first with their energetic set that was full of amazingly choreographed dances. Not only is Couleé an international drag superstar icon, but they are also a recording artist, model, director, and actor. Their impressive background does not stop there. As shared during their show at Newport, Couleé is now part of Disney+’s Marvel Universe series, Ironheart. Couleé is RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season Five winner and All Stars Season Seven finalist, so it comes as no surprise that their outfits were all on point for their performance.

One word to describe Couleé’s performance would be iconic. Couleé started out the set with a sensational entrance where they were accompanied by two incredibly talented dancers. What made Couleé’s set was their ability to connect with the audience on a magnitude of levels. They spoke to the audience and really connected and conversed in a way that was truly special. Couleé played their song “Material” early on during their set, where they shared that the song ironically never actually says the word material.

To continue the night of iconic performances, Australian-American pop star Betty Who took to the stage next and did not disappoint excited fans who came dressed to impress. Betty is a natural-born performer and her energy on stage is infectious. One word to describe Betty Who’s performance would be empowering. She is known for her allyship, dedication, and advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community while also identifying as queer herself. Her concert fostered an incredible sense of togetherness, empowerment, love, and the feeling of being heard and welcome. The main theme of Betty’s new and fourth album BIG! is self-acceptance.

Betty made a grand entrance on stage after an incredible cinematic video mashup which was displayed across three large screens behind her. Betty was accompanied on stage by two backup dancers and her set featured fabulous dance sequences that were nothing short of impressive. She slayed her set with new songs from her new album BIG!, opening up with her song “WEEKEND” and “SHE CAN DANCE” (and wow, can Betty dance!), both of which were phenomenally executed. The opening of Betty’s show was full of explosive and impressive choreographed dances.

Betty continued this high energy throughout the duration of her show. In addition to highlighting songs from her new album, Betty also made sure to play some of her older and more popular songs that tenured fans enjoyed. These songs included, “Somebody Loves You” and “Human Touch.”

If you haven’t had the chance to make it to one of Betty’s shows, do not hesitate because Betty has an incredible presence where you can’t help but leave feeling empowered and good about yourself.
