Music City fans enjoyed an amazing performance from Berklee graduate and singer-songwriter, Ashe, with support from Australian pop artist Blake Rose.
Hailing from Perth, Australia, Blake Rose opened the night with a solo set. The audience welcomed him on stage with deafening screams full of excitement. Rose began with “Rollerblades” from his 2021 album A World Gone By. He played the muted electric guitar chords and synthesizers while the rest of the song was played against accompanying tracks. Next was “Lady,” one of the first songs he ever released. The audience moved back and forth as they took in his romanticized lyrics and captivating vocal performance.
After getting all the initial excitement out, he slowed down the pace with “Gone.” The crowd’s response to that first guitar chord lets you know that it’s one of his most well-known songs. He continued with another slow song titled “Ordinary People,” another fan-favorite. But that was enough sadness for a little while, so Rose brought the tempo back up with “Casanova.”
The next song was “Demon,” Rose’s next song to be released. Even though it was new, the audience still managed to sing along to most of the song. The night continued with another earlier song “Heavy S**t.” Towards the end of the song, Rose came down to the barricades to sing and interact with the crowd.
After following with “Confidence,” his most recent single, the Music City audience gifted him a pink cowboy hat, which he wore as he played his last song “Lost.”
As the cover that blocked Ashe’s stage design was taken down and her band walked on stage, the crowd lost their minds. After playing a short intro, Ashe snuck on to the stage while the lights were down and they transitioned into her first song “Me Without You.” She stood singing at center stage where there was a huge arch-shaped structure that doubled as a light source and what seemed like some type of projector.Ashe’s performance was so unique and quite literally entrancing as she floated around the stage and still managed to hit every note. She continued with “I’m Fine” and “Kansas,” which seamlessly transitioned into “Someone to Lose,” a song from her earliest EP The Rabbit Hole.
Next on the setlist was “Save Myself.” Her intimate lyrics resonated with the audience as their voices filled the room and the next song “Not Mad Anymore” followed suit. Ashe continued her set with the piano driven song “Love is Not Enough.” Afterward, her drummer and violinist left the stage and she brought her guitarist up to perform the acoustic track “Taylor” with her. The rest of her band returned to play “When I’m Older,” during which there were videos of a younger Ashe playing on the arched fixture.
Next, the group played “Another Man’s Jeans,” which got the audience super excited. The style of song was different from most of what was played prior, but it was right down Music City’s alley. The next song got everyone even more excited with just the first few lyrics as she sang a beautiful cover of Queen’s “Somebody to Love.”
Afterward, she announced that the next song is “brand spanking new” and proceeded to play “Hope You’re Not Happy.” Following that, she performed “Always” which was an emotional one for Ashe. Being halfway through the tour, her voice was starting to get strained so she asked for help hitting the high note at the end. But being the amazing vocalist she is, after taking a small pause to catch some tears, she hit it flawlessly. She continued to end her set with her most popular songs, “Till Forever Falls Apart” and “Moral of the Story.”
Ashe is still on tour with several dates left. You won’t want to miss the amazing performance. You can also check out her latest album Ashlyn on all streaming platforms.
