A Day to Remember at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, ME

A Day to Remember delivered an intimate and energetic performance at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, ME, during the Couple More Shows Tour.

Recently wrapping up their Least Anticipated Album Tour this summer, A Day to Remember hit the road again for the fall tour. The concert marked stop number 10 of 16, featuring support from openers Stand Atlantic and August Burns Red. The audience was mostly made up of millennials who were ready to headbang and let off some steam.

The Cross Insurance Arena was set up for standing room that created an electric atmosphere. While there were seated areas in the back and sides, most of the crowd was on their feet. This concert felt more intimate compared to other shows A Day to Remember may typically perform. Despite the more compact crowd size, the energy remained incredibly high and showcased the band’s ability to connect with fans in a personal way.

To kick off the night, lead singer Bonnie Fraser of Stand Atlantic took the stage and quickly engaged the crowd. Her impressive voice, marked by a raspiness reminiscent of Emily Armstrong, the new lead singer of Linkin Park, or Hayley Williams from Paramore, set the tone for the evening. From the very first song, the audience was moshing and crowd surfing as the band played tracks that had everyone moving. The set included standout songs like “I’m a Killer,” “Nosebleed,” and “Deathwish.” Stand Atlantic’s blend of pop-punk hooks and catchy melodies set a high-energy tone for the night.

The next band to keep the energy going was August Burns Red. Lead singer Jake Luhrs showcased a powerful voice and intense stage presence. Their set featured a mix of heavy-hitting tracks, including System of a Down’s “Chop Suey,” “Bloodletter,” and “Revival.” Each song brought a different element of their signature metalcore sound and the audience responded with headbanging and crowd surfing.

A standout moment came when Jeremy McKinnon, the lead singer of A Day to Remember, surprised the crowd by joining August Burns Red on stage for their second song, “Paramount.” This collaboration sent the audience into a frenzy, further elevating the already electric atmosphere of the night.

The anticipation started to build as August Burns Red ended their set and the stage crew began preparing for A Day to Remember. They set up a bleacher-style stage, and the crowd erupted in cheers as the band took their places.

As the first notes hit, a barrage of confetti cannons filled the arena. They kicked off with “Sticks & Bricks,” and lead singer Jeremy McKinnon commanded the stage, rallying the crowd with his energy.

During “Right Back at It Again,” a crew member in a Mario costume appeared on stage, launching T-shirts into the crowd. Halfway through the show, Jeremy spotted a fan dressed as a glowing stick figure high up in the seats, playfully urging the audience to cheer for them. The band also invited crowd surfing, with fans standing upright on the shoulders of others as they moved toward the stage.

The performance was visually spectacular, featuring flames and smoke on stage with toilet paper and beach balls flying through the air. During “If It Means A Lot To You,” the audience illuminated the arena with their cell phone flashlights. Following this heartfelt song, a significant amount of confetti blasted into the air once more. They ended with one of their arguably top three songs, “The Downfall Of Us All,” as an encore.
