September 15 Will Be The Big Day!!!

Preparations are well underway for Loud Hailer’s road trip fundraiser for NIVA and Musicians on Call which will begin on September 15.

We have been working away hard recently here at Loud Hailer HQ in preparation for our cross-country trip to raise money for The National Independent Venue Foundation and Musicians On Call.

As a reminder, the plan is for us to travel across the US, me on my motorcycle, and Kirstine and Dave in our camper van. We’ll be camping as opposed to staying in hotels as much as possible and we will be staying off highways to try to show off some of real America along the way. We are approaching independent music venues in each city we plan to visit and will be interviewing the owners and highlighting venues, all of which we will be posting up on Loud Hailer. There will be plenty of content coming so you can follow along with the five-and-a-half-week trip.

We will also be looking to attend and cover a show at an independent venue when we are in town. We will hopefully be catching up with Musicians On Call representatives and volunteers in the cities where they have programs as well. If possible, we will try to arrange one or two of our own dedicated shows – more information on that to come as we confirm the details.

The full list of cities on the trip is currently:

– New York, NY
-Cleveland, OH
-Detroit, MI
-Chicago, IL
-Nashville, TN
-Clarksdale, MS
-Florence, AL
-Austin, TX
-Santa Fe, NM
-Phoenix, AZ
-Los Angeles, CA

We’ll be filming and posting content throughout the trip to try to keep you entertained and involved as much as possible. We will also be requesting for you to share your favorite playlist with us – we may request some themed ones as well. Each day we’ll pick a playlist or two and post these to our Spotify page – they will be the soundtrack to that day’s trip! So if you have a favorite playlist that you must listen to when you’re traveling or driving, let us know! There’s going to be a lot of time on the road so we’d love to have some new playlists to help kill the time.

Both charities we are looking to raise money for have dedicated fundraising pages and we will be publishing QR codes that can link you directly to their pages here on the site and across our social media pages soon.

As we mentioned in the last post, if you can, please tell your friends, re-post this on your socials, and let others know about it. The more people that know, the more money we can raise for these fantastic organizations.

Look out for A LOT more from us in the coming weeks on our socials and here on the website. In the meantime – get putting your playlists together!

We’ve provided some brief information below about the organizations for which we are raising money but would encourage you to visit the respective websites (links at the bottom of the article) to find out more about their missions.

Musicians On Call (MOC) brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients, families, and caregivers in healthcare environments. By delivering live, in-room performances to patients undergoing treatment or unable to leave their beds, they add a dose of joy to life in a healthcare facility. As the nation’s leading provider of live music in hospitals, Musicians On Call volunteers have performed for more than one million individuals through bedside and virtual programs across all 50 states. MOC believes that everyone should have access to and benefit from the healing power of live music. It has been demonstrated that music has a direct effect on people and can manage stress, alleviate pain and improve blood pressure, outlook, and overall mood.

National Independent Venue Foundation (NIVF) – The mission of the National Independent Venue Foundation (NIVF) is to preserve and nurture the ecosystem of independent live performance venues and promoters throughout the United States by supporting a transparent, competitive marketplace serving a diverse and inclusive community of artists, fans, and industry workers. The Foundation aims to learn from existing best practices and training programs undertaken by NIVA’s members and expand upon them to provide education and community programming, employee training and support, and economic development initiatives to further develop both organizations’ efforts to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion. Future programming will also support entrepreneurship, management training, and minority business funding.
